Liebster Blog Award

What??? This little blog got nominated for an award??? Many thanks to Peter and Jason from Awkward Truth for the nomination! The Liebster Award is a way for bloggers to recognize each other and show some love to fellow bloggers who have smaller followings. Curiously, "Liebster" is German for "Dearest" (according to Google translate anyways.) :)

Rules:
  1. Acknowledge the blog that nominated you and display the award.
  2. Answer eleven questions the blogger gives you
  3. List eleven random facts about yourself
  4. Nominate eleven other bloggers you think are deserving of the award (with less than 200 followers)
  5. Give them eleven questions to answer
  6. Let the bloggers know you nominated them

     Peter and Jason ask:

What do you most appreciate in a blog?
When the blogger is able to design a beautiful, attractive layout AND consistently publish excellent, God-glorifying content.

What inspires you most?
Inspiration comes from a lot of places! When it comes to non-fiction, the Bible inspires me most, as well as the various life events the Lord uses to teach me. For fiction, I'm most inspired by Biblical and world history. There's so much that can be learned from the past.

If you could choose to live in any particular year in history, which would it be?
America during the late 40s, early 50s. It was both a simpler time and the most advanced period of history the world had known until that point. People had a stronger sense of morals and a stronger work ethic. There's a reason those who lived during that time are called the "last great generation."

Favorite animal, and why?
A bald eagle. First, because they're protected by law, which means they can't be killed. Second, they can fly. Third, they're mentioned in the Bible! Well, not bald eagles specifically... but still.

Which do you prefer to write on: computer, typewriter, or pen and paper?
Does anyone even use a typewriter anymore?? In general, I prefer pen and paper, although I am comfortable with a computer.

Which book of the Bible do you love most?
Oh goodness, why would you ask this question?! If I really had to choose, it'd probably be either Psalms or Romans.

Who's your least favorite author? Why?
I actually have several least favorite authors. My least, least favorite author would be C. S. Lewis. WAIT, WAIT, before you start throwing stones, allow me to explain. My reasons for disliking him are not necessarily because of the quality of his writing. Rather, Lewis maintains several theological positions which I believe to be unbiblical. Perhaps sometime I'll write an entire post about that....

What's your biggest writing pet peeve?
Books that contain just enough morals to be classified as a Christian book, but still contain all the elements of godless literature. This is especially true of "Christian" romance novels.

If you could be any character from the Lord of the Rings, who would it be?
I've never read or watched LOTR, so....

What's your least favorite thing about blogging?
Posting consistently. I'm terrible at making schedules and sticking to them. For now I just post whenever I think of something to post about. :P

What's your favorite blog post you ever published?
When God's Commands Are Unpleasant. The Lord used the experience described in the post to teach me a valuable lesson and I'm so glad I was able to capture it in a post as I'm a very forgetful person and being able to read it over and remember what the Lord taught me is very helpful.

  1. Gloria!
Aw, thank you for nominating me, girl! I look forward to answering your questions.
I have never read the books by C.S. Lewis, but never do I want to read them. I agree with you.
And your biggest pet peeve is a pet peeve of mine as well. I don’t even read Christian romance novels.

    Love
    Ashley

    1. Absolutely! I look forward to reading your answers. :)
I've only read "The Magician's Nephew." Some of the theology in the book seemed rather off so we did more research and decided that C.S. Lewis is not an author we'd continue reading.
Christian romance novels annoy me SO MUCH! The one or two I've read made me mad for days...

  2. Ah, I'm terrible at blogging schedules as well! They're great in theory. And this sentence describes me perfectly as well: Sweatpants and hoodies are life. The number one thing I look for in clothes is comfort, haha.

Also, I'd be eager to read a post on your thoughts on C. S. Lewis' works. I haven't read any of them (well, I think I may have read one of his fiction books when I was younger, but I don't remember it), but I've been meaning to for ages, after having lots of people recommend them. So I'm open to hearing all perspectives!

Thanks for sharing your answers - it was fun to get to know you a little more. :) And thanks for tagging me as well! xx

    1. YES comfy clothes are a MUST!!! In addiction to modesty, comfort is one of the main things I look for in clothes as well.

I'll have to write a post about that sometime soon. Keep an eye out for it!
